Visited Mad Hatters today for afternoon tea. After an initial confusion about the booking I had made, which was sorted out fairly quickly, the following experience was rather good. The decor is quirky and the venue is spotlessly clean, as is the bathroom. The staff are very accommodating and the service is good. They have an excellent selection of teas and the cakes, pastries and savouries are all delicious and freshly made to order that day. Presentation is excellent and the portion sizes are ample. The only two minus points are that the tables towards the door are a touch too close together and I felt that the cakes we wanted to take away should have been cleared from the table and boxed up for us in the kitchen, rather than the takeaway container being given to us to pack them ourselves. All in all a lovely afternoon out, highly recommended
They updated the menu recently and there's a lot of interesting variety in there and the prices are very reasonable. Big selection of options too. Friendly staff. Loo is on ground floor and there are no steps in or out but it is quite narrow and would be awkward if you're in a wheelchair. I also love the Alice in Wonderland theme which is in the names of the items in the menu too. A hidden gem since it is never packed and it should be.
Loved the decor. Friendly staff. Delicious cakes even though mine was green.
Lovely little gem tucked away in a side street. Remember to make a reservation or you are stuck sitting on the sidewalk especially on the weekend. Next time I'm going for afternoon tea.
If you are a fan of Alice in Wonderland then you will be delighted by the little trinkets, portraits and wall clock and with the right friends you will really be at the Mad Hatter's tea party.
