My boyfriend and I went here for an anniversary meal after lots of searching for a decent place to go that was within our budget and I'm so glad we ended up at the Gatehouse Grill! It's situated about the Royal Thai restaurant so have to enter the Thai restaurant, turning left and go upstairs to get to the steakhouse. Its nicely decorated and the tables are well-spaced. There's also a nice bar area with a glass floor which is really interesting! There's a large outdoor area overlooking the bay which would be great in the summer. We ordered the deep fried brie to start (and share) and it was really well done. We obviously both ordered steaks for our mains - we got one sirloin and one fillet - both cooked rare. They were great steaks and cooked to perfection. It was also just the right size for one person and it was very filling. We also ordered some side dishes - we both particularly liked the Parmesan, black truffle oil fries which were absolutely delicious! I'd go back just for them! We had the cheese board for desert and it didn't disappoint though as always, i would have liked more cheese. We paired this with a nice glass of port from their selection of 3/4. The wine is reasonably priced and the service was brilliant. The staff were attentive and knowledgable and very courteous; they even ordered us a taxi for when we were ready to leave. I really liked this restuarnat and I can't wait to visit it again.
