We stopped in yesterday at short notice after ringing to say there were 15 of us would they be able to accommodate us and this was no problem. After spending a poignant day scattering our darling mothers ashes in the sea at Brighton, our family enjoyed a wonderful meal and desserts here. The service was efficient and we didn't have to wait very long. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. Would recommend the Swiss Cottage and we will definitely be returning on our yearly pilgrimage to pay our respects to our mum. Thankyou. X
Absolutely love this place, great food, lovely atmosphere and very good value for money! Would definitely recommend. We come here as regular as we can!
However unprepossessing this pub may look from the road, there is a surprise out back - a pond, no more a small lake. Teeming with fish, ducks, geese and a black swan.
The gardens surround half this, and the dining area juts out to the water's edge.
The food is at the upper end of pub fare and there are a few deals where drinks are £1 with a burger, specials children's deals, and for seniors.
They were a bit short staffed yesterday for taking orders, and at one point there was quite a long queue, but it was Easter week, and a nice day so they probably had more business than expected.
The goose and the black swan are inseparable. And the goose is very protective so stay clear - he is quite, erm, assertive!
You could tie a visit to this pub in with a walk along part of the Downs Link - this is close to the disused railway from Shoreham to Christ's Hospital.
