The Fisherman’s Cottage is part of the same business that runs Shanklin Chine. The pub is situated beside one of the exits from the chine and is close to the entrance.
We booked a table by email, but arrived early and had no problem getting a table.
It’s a small and comfortable pub that is attractively decorated.
The food was good and so was the beer. The staff were helpful and friendly.
For warmer times, there is outdoor seating.
After visiting the Shanklin Chine, we walked down hill and straight to the Fisherman’s Cottage, an adorable little pub on the beach. Lovely decor, friendly staff, fast service - we loved the little buzzers on the table that you press if you need anything. The vegetarians in our family were happy with their choices, Grilled Halloumi and Jacket Potatoes with Cheese and Beans. My husband and I liked our Seafood Spaghetti, the taste was fine, however the presentation left a lot to be desired. Fish and Chips were also fine, good portions.
When I am giving 5 star, that really means the place deserves these. I had heard the name of Fisherman’s cottage well before visiting the place but always wanted to try once. So here my experience:
1. Mind blowing location (see the video)
2. Known for its fish & chips and yes, the battered fish was unique. Means I had in London at many best places but this one is something really crazy. The flakiness is really awesome and they get fresh water fish daily on their boat.
3. The ambience will take you into 1800.
Overall this place is a real gem. Must visit for all who are visiting Isle of Wight.
