Super place to go for a Mother's Day Sunday lunch outing from London. Very welcoming over the phone. No problem when we were a bit late for our booking. Great service. Wonderful and plentiful food reasonably priced. Very happy to accommodate our three very young girls.
Went in for the first time with other CAMRA members. For a pub of this size to have six excellent real ales on tap all of which are LOCALE compliant without them even knowing just shows what a committed landlady can achieve. Food stunning. It may be accused of being a little too gastro but there are plenty of english classics on the menu, I had beer battered fish and chips, but it was seas bream ! And it was delicious.
We spoke with the chef and I have no concerns about him losing his way. We heard how this place has been brought back from the dead and if that required a French Celebrity chef then so be it, too many pubs in similar locations are gone forever. The beers are extremely well kept, the choice was superb and it will thrive on that alone.
£2.90 per pint even for the higher gravity beers must be commended. It puts many a local venue to shame.
Superb !
Pricey (£12 quid for a big ploughmans) but exactly what we needed as a mid way along a walk. Great for vegetarians which is unusual for a rural pub. The barman was a character - off putting at first but very friendly and a good laugh. Recommended.
