Well done to Swarbrick family. I went with a group of five friends. Such a lovely and cosey atmosphere. The staff are so friendly . The meal was excellent, well presented and all was home made. The decor of the place is very good and clean facilities. I will recommend it to my friends.
Just popped in for a bite to eat as we were in the area. Barman made us feel welcome. Ordered our drinks and went to sit outside as it’s quite nice today. Placed our orders, 2x cheese and onion pies with chips and veg and 2x steak and ale pies with Mash and veg. Staff were great hosts and kept making sure everything was ok. The manager came out and spoke to us, we are their first customers to eat outside. Having given us plenty of time to finish, waitress came to clear our table. One of our party asked for a dessert menu. Yes I am actually writing this review whilst sat outside deciding what to have for dessert.
If you are ever this way, come and find this lovely friendly pub with fantastic food. We will return.
This is a superb eatery which we should frequent far more than we do!
Food is outstanding and the service is friendly and professional, the staff seem to have the ability to make you feel 100% welcome which I assure you is not the case in a lot of other places we have dined in!
On this occasion we skipped the starters and went straight for two mains. My steak n ale pie was beautiful with accompanying "chunky" chips and a variety of vegetables. Val had the gammon with a "crispy" egg and pineapple salsa and, having scrounged a taste, I can only say it was absolutely wonderful and is a meal I will order for myself next time. Just two notes for the management/chef though .. 1 It says crispy eggs on the menu and although a diner would normally only expect one egg we could have easily devoured another one, or two, or three (haha) as it was absolutely delicious!! and 2 The chips were the thinner ones and we thought the chunky chips would have been better. These are not complaints though because the food is wonderful!
I couldn't resist a dessert of Chocolate bread n butter pudding with custard and yet again this was delicious.
Add to the food two pints of diet coke and two large pinots and the final bill was £45.50 and worth every penny! The member of staff we paid even said "are you sure?" when I left a £5 tip but we always like to reward an enjoyable dining experience with a 10% tip!
Service is 10/10 Food is 10/10 and I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anybody who enjoys dining out!
Thanks to all concerned
Ian and Val
