A absolutely cracking spot, with great food, served quickly and at a fair price. We called in twice last week , as we were so impressed. The soups are original, tasty and certainly home made. The mushroom soup was superb, and so different from the main stream stuff.
There is indoor seating, along with a outdoor area and a veranda facing down Borrowdale, towards Castle Crag. I could have sat there all afternoon in the sun. Dogs are allowed in this area.
Plenty of local lamb product, including lamb pasties on the menu.
Its a short walk from the National Trust Rosthwaite Car Park or the local village hall parking, both or which are chargeable. it could easily be added to a walk in Borrowdale .
We will be back
Superb little tea room. Small but good selection of hot foot. Drinks, hot and cold. Lovely tray bakes. Local produce to buy - jams, chutneys, sauces. Terrace around the back with overhead cover and great views down the valley.
What a beautiful little tea room! A really short walk from the national trust car park with plenty of outdoor seating (some under cover) overlooking fields of sheep and lambs. The service was very friendly with lattes, teas and coffees well made and a delicious slice of coffee and walnut cake to accompany a lamb pasty. Highly recommend this lovely little spot, especially if you're walking towards Millican Dalton's cave or in the opposite direction to Black Moss Pot. It is a popular spot but a perfect end to a walk or swim nearby!
