Have seen this place a lot on social media lately, so thought I’d hop on the Elizabeth Line upto Romford to check it out myself.
Robins Pie & Mash is on the main street once you leave the station, passing by the other fast food shops and ice cream vans, I found them, so I lined up as people are queing out of the door waiting to get in here, but don’t be put off by that, after a quick, 5-mins I’m in!!
Loving the serving ladies singing to the radio behind the counter, chatting and taking peoples orders, eagerly waiting, you can hear and try to learn the lingo for your order.
“2-1-1 Two pies One Mash One Liquor”
After payment, another lass helps you to your table so you can get stuck in to your meal, adding plenty of salt and pepper, with and a splash of vinegar and I’m diving in.
Just eating and watching how the orders and patrons coming in is an experience, great fun, great food, the kind my parents and grandparents used to enjoy, propa tucker!
The food is so delicious, you’ll have your plate within 30 seconds of saying your order, staff are so hard working and friendly. The tables are great, lovely decor. Affordable, and so true to the east end culture. I’ve been to a quite a few pie and mash shops, this one is the best.
Every time I visit Romford this is my go to venue for food. Always found this place to be friendly with very nice staff. Food always great, hot and fresh. Cannot fault anything about this place.
