My partner and I had four happy days and nights staying, eating, drinking and having fun here . The food and service was amazing, great atmosphere, very kind and helpful staff. Our room was clean, comfortable and quaint .
Management and staff couldn’t have done more for us .
Thank you , we’ll be back soon for another delicious dinner . Nic and Caroline.
Outstanding service, delicious food, beautiful restaurant I highly recommend The Herbalist, the staff go above and beyond and they made our special occasion perfect they couldn't do enough for us. Book a table you won't be disappointed!!!
When making the booking I explained I wanted an afternoon tea for two and one of us was a child. I was asked if we wanted jam sandwiches, I did not. The bread was stale on the edges. The fillings were lacking. Cheese and pickle? I’ve tasted more cheese on public transport! Oh and they only gave enough cream for half a scone. HALF A SCONE! If you want coffee with this you had better order several as they don’t give you a pot, that was for the tea and I hate tea. The chocolate moose things on top, in shot glasses? Yeah that was a bad move because not only did they not give anything to eat it with but they don’t have a spoon small enough to fit to the bottom of the shot glass. I also thought it was a bit pricey considering I generally pay £15 for 2 people but no these guys charged almost £30.
Edit: I had a call yesterday from a member of staff at the herbalist to let me know they had seen my review. They apologised for over charging me and offered to email me with a voucher for their Christmas afternoon tea. I haven’t received an email. Hence changing this review to one star.
Edit 2: I was offered a voucher for an afternoon tea for two which I kindly took them up on their offer. I’m glad I did as the experience was a much better one. The food was freshly prepared and tasted amazing. The staff went above and beyond to rectify the previous issue.
