I love this place! A cute, friendly family-run Madeiran eatery that sells the best snacks and seems to be the local hangout for Portuguese speakers in Reading. Their homemade pasteis de nata (custard tarts) are easily the tastiest in Reading, and even beat those sold by a certain nata chain in London in my opinion. I could quite easily eat several in one sitting. Apparently in Madeira they eat them with a sprinkle of cinnamon on - just ask if you want to try it. Their deep-fried rissois come in different shapes with different fillings (prawn, cod, pork, beef and chicken) - worth trying them all to find your favourite, mine is prawn. But if you’re looking for something a little more substantial, they do a great, beautifully garlicky type of Madeiran steak sandwich, which includes a fried egg and is enclosed in a type of flat bread. Definitely recommended.
Delicious Portuguese food from Madeira. This is a family business where you are always greeted with a smile.
The food is delicious, freshly made and cheap. Specially like the fish in caco bread and I have recently fall in love with this mix of finger food with different flavours (codfish cakes, corn bread, croquettes of meat, ...) - would highly recommend this mix to binge watch TV or to share with friends (when COVID roles allow)
Amazing food!!
I miss visiting Madeira in this pandemic world and this place just reminds me of my many holidays there. Great food, great value for money, and quite a big menu. So happy to have found this place.
