Tip top establishment, couple down n outers in the corner but that didn't stop us from embracing the Duke Box and the pool table, would recommend coming here before heading off out out, or even coming here for a couple cheaper drinks then the usual places in town, no need for fancy cocktails... shots of tequila and good pints are all you need

From the manager to the locals what you see is what you get. The sun has a great, old school atmosphere you can't get elswhere. Brilliant pub.

Nice old pub, alcoves where you can sit and chat, nice rose wine, Christmas lights around, great bar staff.

Good no frills pub for working-class people in the town centre which is rare. Good pool table, good darts pub, great jukebox and decent beer terrace out the back. Some of the locals might appear a bit moody at first. but this is Reading, and people are okay once you get talking to them. Landlord a fair bloke. Staff human beings, which can't be said for all pubs in town.
