“Thanks you made my Mum's day! (Great wheelchair access!).” (5 of 5 bubbles Pending Tripadvisor review) We were looking to take my Mother out for her birthday but my wife is vegan, and often there is nothing on the menu for her when we go for a pub meal and we needed wheelchair access for my Mother. We phoned up the day before and told a vegan option and access were not a problem. On arrival we found the staff had very helpfully provided ramps so moving Mum around was a lot easier and for this in particular I would like to say a huge thanks to all the staff... If you fancy a bit of pub grub and you need to use a chair you won't find a friendlier place than this! The pub is lovely and clean and very child friendly too...there is a play amenity behind the pub that seemed very popular. We arrived and were invited up into the Green Room where a table had been prepared for us. The staff were wonderfully attentive and very friendly. It was only after we ate we found out that Julian (who helped us) was the manager! Lovely chap who despite being under pressure took time to look after us. I'll be honest about the food. This is Great British Pub food not cordon bleu and is all the better for it, and it's really good value. My wife had Monmouthshire Bake and she said it was absolutely delicious. I had stuffed red pepper boats and they were scrumptious, stuffed with all sorts of goodies like cashew nuts and herbs. All served with big fat chips that I usually am not a fan of but here they were perfect. Mum had a roast lamb dinner with Yorkshire pud. We all agreed the portions were bang on and each meal was enjoyed thoroughly. (I never have desert but we pushed the boat out and had sticky toffee sponge pudding and custard after! We three really enjoyed the food so why not?) So thanks everyone my Mother had a lovely day and we will all be back again soon. Furthermore I really do recommend you give them a ring beforehand if you can. The level of service and friendliness was second to none. They went out of their way with the Chef to accommodate my vegan wife- so big thanks to the Chef too. I'd recommend this place to anybody. Give 'em a ring and pop in! See you there :)

I have been past here many, many times, but because we couldn't eat where we planned to, we ate here. And have to say, I'm really glad we stopped in. It has a lovely atmosphere, the food was great, the staff are really friendly and we look forward to returning again and trying the evening menu. Well worth a stop.

Must place to go if you're looking for good food and service. Could not fault it. I've marked down the atmosphere purely because the pub emptied around 8pm and was very quiet which was a shame. It seems like people are just using pubs now just to eat in so I encourage people to keep the pub industry alive by spending a bit more time in them to drink and socialise and not just to eat in

Good clean spacious pub. Friendly staff. Didn't get to see the drinks at the bar as we had table service, but moretti was on tap so I'd guess decent selection. The burger I had was one of the best I've had in a while, and the cheesy garlic bread was delightful. Thanks guys.

Great family pub. The food quality is within par of other local establishments, quality vs price. If ur in the area and want a reasonable meal, you won't regret it.

Went there for lunch today, and being honest I must say that the food was delicious. I had the beef curry, with chips and rice. A very generous portion with copious amounts of beef !. Decor very nice and cleanliness not an issue. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that it was a little cold in there, but I can understand why with today's energy costs !. The only other observation was that there was a TV screen showing the starters, specials and desserts menu. It was placed on a wall right above a table where customers were eating. It didn't feel right looking at the screen and I'd imagine those customers felt uncomfortable thinking they were being watched. It needs to be placed in a more strategic area. Would definitely go again.
