The pub garden is quite spacious with some large round tables and some smaller ones dotted about. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. The food was amazing and everything tasted fresh and delicious I have to say the homemade desserts were absolutely incredible, sticky toffee has never tasted so good, with a butterscotch sauce and ice cream! Washed down with a cold pint of Rattlers!
The Polgooth exceeded our expectations, the menu was wide and varied with the prices not being out of the ordinary, but the quality and quantity of the meal certainly was. I had the burnt-ends of brisket, my wife the fish pie. Both meals were beautifully cooked and presented, service was prompt and friendly.
The Polgooth is certainly worthy of a diversion or a destination in its own right!!
I cannot fault this place on my visit. When we arrived the place was heaving which was a good sign. The lady got us to our table straight away and didn't seem at all flustered at how busy the place was. Staff were very friendly and food was absolutely amazing, not only was it great but the portions were absolutely huge. We ordered a starter which was a lot bigger than expected, we had to box some to take with us. The mains (pictured) were great, the brisket had great flavour and just fell apart. The rump steak was cooked perfectly and just melted in the mouth. If you are nearby I was highly recommend this to visit, but make sure you book as this place appears to always be full, and for good reason.
