What a great place to enjoy a coffee and a Pastries. My family were on holiday and we popped in here and received a warm welcome. The latte coffee was lovely and the Pastries we're delightful especially the rhubarb and apple. There is a lovely calm atmosphere here with plenty of natural light coming through the large windows that overlook the quey side. Friendly staff and the toilets are clean and are disable friendly, there is also a baby changing table in the same toilet. So if your after that coffee and cake look no further.
After a short stroll from the city centre we arrived at The Barbican and decided to stop here for a break.
I had a Mocha and Julie had a Decaf Tea. We both had a plain scone each and I opted for clotted cream (yes, jam first then cream).
The coffee was just right and was hot. Julie’s tea was right - ensuring she took out the tea bag as not to have it too stewed.
The scones were fresh and were not dry, indicating freshly baked or at least they tasted fresh… crumbling and melting in your mouth with just the right consistency.
The place was about a third full and although there were only two staff on (as far as we could see) they tried to keep the tables clear as best they could.
Very friendly staff too.
I put all our finished things on the tray and took over to the counter to help them out.
Lovely view across the marina and harbour.
The scone in a cream tea set is jumbo! It’s also soft, dense, and buttery, so good. The café is bright and spacious with a harbor view. Clean toilet.
So you order at the counter, wait for your food there, and bring the tray to the table you choose.
