We went last weekend & were curious as we heard it had changed ownership. It's always had a good reputation, & very busy previously with local customers in Peterculter.
The decor is now bright & airy, nice & fresh, the layout has changed, no more booths, it's nicely laid out but gives each table space/privacy. Also really enjoyed the background music, created a lovely atmosphere, very Zen.
We were greeted by the new owner Krish who also has 8848 on Union Street, extremely welcoming host, he assisted us with our choice from the new menu & also with Nepalese wine that is best suited to our meal. All staff were very pleasant & service is brilliant, all I can say is WOW!!
We had a variety of different dishes, & were keen to try the traditional Nepalese cuisine.
We shared the meat platter which came out sizzling with aromas that made your nose & taste buds come alive...the taste was magnificent with accompaniments chutneys, yoghurt dips etc that complimented the meat. Followed by momo/dumplings, butter chicken & monkfish. All the curry sauces were truly mouthwatering.
Honestly I've never tasted such beautiful food, all very fresh, full of flavour & spice, & all things nice, but my tongue wasn't set on fire, it was mild/medium "heat" but the vegetables & dips also had a "cooling" effect...we also had the orange sorbet as a dessert whuch really cleansed the palate, everything just worked really well together.
Something for everyone's palate/taste.
Very clever/knowledgeable chef, who has obviously plenty training & experience. Was lovely to meet him after.
Everyone so friendly & obliging.
We left very full, but extremely happy, this is now our favourite restaurant, not just locally, but in Aberdeen.
We are eager to go back & introduce our friends & family.
Thank you so much to Krish & the team at Himalayas, very definitely a lovely night to remember & a place to revisit.
We HIGHLY recommend trying this little gem to everyone. GO!! Xx
So lucky to find this gem across our trip to Aberdeenshire! The buttery chicken was smooth and full of flavour! The lamb was soft and infused with lentil and cardamon! The wine list is extensive, including wines from India! The chef serves you with a mountain of flavour, making it the most tasteful hike of your life!
What an absolutely lovely restaurant with the friendliest service and delicious food! I ordered takeaway and while there was a short wait while the food was finished and packed, it was no trouble at all--the very polite and kind staff gave me a free cold drink and assured me that my food would be very fresh. It absolutely was, and my order was packed with additional free crispy popadums--so tasty! The veggie momos were plump and mild, with a spicy tomato sauce--this was truly the best momo sauce I have ever had, and I have lived in India near the Nepalese border. The portions of rice and curry were generous, and the paneer butter masala was rich and flavorful. As I waited for my food, I enjoyed the cozy ambiance of the restaurant and the relaxing music playing--not too quiet or loud, just the right volume for guests to enjoy and still be able to chat with each other. If I was staying for more than one night in the area, I would certainly come back and try the dine in experience! The ONLY small change I would make is that, for online orders where someone is paying ahead by card, there should be an option to add a tip online, too. I would have loved to give a tip but I never have cash, and I'm sure others are in the same situation! Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant!
