Loved the food and experience. Delightful service. I only dinged it on food because one dish could have been warmer and a little bit of gristle: the lamb. Otherwise genuinely marvelous and worth the trip. Unlike other reviews I think the pub style service is part of the proposition, frills and all, and totally charming. The pub itself feels like it could do with a bit of a refurb to better match the food on offer: windows and fittings could be more refined.
I was very excited to eat here, and the food was good. It just wasn’t what I had expected. Up until quite recently (after we had gone) the sample menu online did not indicate that your choice was only a 3 course, I had been very much looking forward to being able to order a la carte and try many different things.
We did enjoy the meals that we had, the cheese soufflé and the bhuna were the stand outs by far.
The service was good, but not much different then what you would receive at any good restaurant - which is probably me putting too high of expectations on the meal.
Although I turned up looking as commen as muck, was greated with a warm welcome.
The food was absolutely cracking and was rather cheap for the quality of produce, chef skills and service.
I drove up from Windermere and was the best decision I made all holiday.
