When planning our trip to Oxford, Pieminister was a must visit. As someone with Coeliac, it is very rare to find a pie and mash shop that caters to my dietary requirements.
It's a good location, surrounded by interesting shops, and slotted well into our day of visiting local attractions.
On arrival, it was empty, and we were able to order straight away. There is a good choice of gluten-free options, and the price is very reasonable.
When it came to sitting down, all the tables had empty dirty plates and the same on the bar at the window. The serve was sat behind the counter on their phone when we arrived, so they clearly had time to clear and clean the tables but chose not to.
Now, the pie and mash itself were the best I have ever tasted. It was fresh, it was packed with filling, and the flavour was divine.
There are no local restaurants to where I live, but if given the chance, I would dine here again, without a doubt.
Waited about 20-25 min for my pie since there was nothing out that I wanted, so I got this one fresh! Despite the name "Moo and Blue", it took me until I put the pie in my mouth to realize it had blue cheese in it. Nowhere near an overwhelming amount, though, so you get the taste of it without that little shiver when you eat too much. The meat was tender and the mash and peas were also good. Overall, would return if I was ever in the area again.
Super tasty! Do not be intimidated by the line, it moves quickly. That said they will be out of more popular pies by noonish. I enjoyed my Moo and Bloo as well as Chicken Tikka.
