This place was a lucky find. Trying to find a pitch for the night in our camper. Pulled into the Lime Kiln, asked the two questions.
Being can we eat and can we also stay in your carpark.
Both question greeted with a positive response. The guy behind the bar had 3 days before taken over this pub.
Really great beer was on draft. Small menu which shows the food was being prepared fresh. Guess it's not a given. However the barman James a chef had a fellow chef in the kitchen.
We spent a great evening in the pub, log fire roaring away. Good banter with James. Good food from the kitchen and a short walk to the comfort of the van for the nights sleep.
If you want to stop over here book first. They dont have a huge amount of room nor do they want 20 vans taking up all spaces.
We had a chance find with The Lime Kiln this week (Tue 18 July), but what a find! Pulled in to stretch our legs and have a coffee, ended up chatting with the nice guy behind the bar (didn’t ask for his name sorry) and eyeing up some good looking food that he was brought out for the other customer in there. We ended up eating and staying for over two hours!
Had a great burger with a Thai / Vietnamese twist (so tasty and cheap!!), and he made a decent coffee… The guy was no barista, but it was a solid latte.
It was pretty quiet, but it was early in the week and hadn’t long been open. We were told that it’s early days for the new owners and they are still fine tuning things, but it came across as a proper little gem to us. Thanks and all the best!
Lovely place for food and drink. We came for lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Highly recommended the home made fish finger butty. It was very tasty and reasonably priced. We were well looked after by Chris. Good choice of beers and a good location. We will be back again.
