40+ years ago I used to pass this pub in my mate's dad's MK1 Granada on our way to North Wales.
Finally made it inside.
Glad we did.
Lovely sandwiches. Go for the crab or the club...
Hopefully I'll be on the A5 again in the next 40 years 🤞
We went to lunch - the pub is lovely and in a beautiful position (afterwards we walked along the canal, and saw a family of ducks at the nearby nature reserve).
I had fish and chips, it did taste good, but the fish was maybe a little too greasy - the batter had really absorbed the oil. The portion sizes were fair. We also had dessert which went down a treat.
We've been years ago before lockdown for Sunday lunch, and it was very good. I will need to get back for one of those!
Popped in for an evening meal whilst staying in the area for a wedding. Great menu and range of specials. Staff were welcoming and friendly and we went for garlic bread & calamari plus haloumi salad and their LEGENDARY Paella 🥘..
Food was excellent and we left with full bellies and a bag of ice courtesy of the land lady who took pity on us as we didn't have any and there aren't many shops around for stuff. If you're in the area definitely give the Queens Head a visit
