My husband and I really enjoyed our experience. Great food and lovely service! The black salmon starter has to be one of the best I’ve had in a while and the cocktails go down a treat, I’d have to say the best cocktails around. We will hopefully be returning soon.
We came here as a group of five and were greeted by very welcoming staff. They had a rather small limited Sunday menu when we arrived but there was still enough of a selection to pick dishes that we all liked.
We were recommended the goats cheese as a starter and it didn't disappoint. It was served with a chilli ice cream of all things. At first you wouldn't think it will go, but it worked really well with the dish. It was definitely the favourite dish on our table.
And that was just a taster of things to come as it was clear from the rest of our meal that they were really trying to be creative with what they serving.
For mains, the roast pork was generously portioned. The sea trout dish was also well cooked, but the gnocci and sauce it was served with was lacking a little flavour.
For dessert, they had the classic staples like a chocolate brownie and sticky toffee pudding - and they didn't disappoint. But they also had some quite creative desserts like the orange and passion fruit cheesecake. This was served with a dry powder, which, when it heats up in your mouth, it turns into white chocolate. It sounds strange but again, it worked well and I haven't seen anything like that before so it was a nice experience.
I don't believe the restaurant has been open for long so it was great to see the waiters eager for feedback to improve on what was already very good service and good food.
I'm looking forward to visiting again, hopefully on a different day so I can try some of their other dishes that weren't available on their Sunday menu.
Absolutely amazing evening at the Dovetail. Food was fantastic- taste and presentation. Service was excellent. Celebrating an anniversary tonight and couldn’t have had a better experience.
