So I went here for a meal with my friend on the 29th of June and it was absolutely amazing first time of going neither me or my friend are vegan but live trying out new places so when I found this I throught we must go and check it out. It was very quite on the evening we went as England were playing but the server we had Lauren was amazing very attentive she was working on her own but we didn't feel that we got left. My friend is allergic to orange and was driving this evening so we asked Lauren to make a now alcoholic cocktail. Which she did and it was amazing she even cleaned down the area behind the bar to make sure the mocktail didn't get cross contaminated with orange. We had an amazing meal and would definitely go back again. Highly recommend and will definitely be going back 😀 Thanks Lauren for an amazing evening
Wow. This place was incredible, and totally vegan! We actually struggled to find out about the vegan options here, as we'd been recommended this place by an employee at another restaurant as they didn't have a garden, but until we asked a member of staff here, we really couldn't tell by looking at the menu or website if the food was vegan or not. It is.
The garden is beautiful and well spaced and the food was delicious!
Unfortunately, on the day of my visit, they had ran out of pasta by the time I ordered, which was a shame as the people near me had one of the last portions and it looked delicious!
I ended up having the arancini and risotto, which were both delicious in their own rights, but very, very similar dishes, so I wish I had had something a little different for my main for some variety.
My partner had an aubergine dish and the tofish and chips. It was incredible and the portion was huge!
In hindsight, we should have shared or omitted a starter. We could even have gotten away with sharing a main! (Though then we wouldn't have been able to try as much as we did).
Finally we finished off with both puddings. The espresso panna cotta (sorry if I've got names wrong, it's been a couple of weeks), was nice. But this is coming from a coffee hater. Which means I couldn't really taste the espresso; it wasn't very strong. It was beautifully presented though.
I had the crumble. I loved the topping and the cream.the cream was phenomenal! But the rhubarb was a little sour until everything was mixed together.
Overall, I'd absolutely return and wholeheartedly recommend!
The Gatherers hosted a lunch for us on our wedding day (8 people in total) and it was absolutely perfect! We couldn't have been happier with the care and hard work that went into everything from the table decor to the cake. We had a tapas-style menu paired with wine and every new dish that came out had our guests oohing and aahing. We were originally introduced to The Gatherers by my meat-loving father-in-law because of the quality of food and atmosphere. He's a regular now so that really says it all! Couldn't recommend highly enough if you have a special event and want to impress - or simply want a nice dinner out. The fireplace alone is worth the visit ;)
