KCC is situated on King Street and has, over the last 10 years or so, renovated what used to be the old Lads Club. 400 or so members gather on a Sunday morning, along with many visitors, in the main auditorium.
However, the building is in constant use throughout the week as well. There is a coffee shop which is open Mon-Fri which serves snacks and light lunches, as well as tea and a great selection of coffees. It is reasonably priced and very tasty and the staff will make you feel relaxed and welcome.
Enter any further into the building and you will be hit by the colour scheme of purple, yellow and green. It may not be to everyone's taste but one thing it is not is boring and personally I think it works! The second thing that will hit you is the size of the building. It is like a tardis! There are rooms to the side, below in the basement, upstairs above the coffee shop, everywhere! It has become one of the best conference centres in the city and is usually fully booked throughout the week.
Apart from the building the church is a thriving community of people who love Jesus and want to make him known. They gather in smaller groups throughout the week and serve in many areas such as the coffee shop, catering, parents and toddler groups, Art Explorers and Music Makers (for pre-schoolers), the Alpha course, sports night, quiz nights, King's Care for the homeless, youth work, worship and teaching. I could go on but why not pop in during the week for a coffee or come along one Sunday and see for yourself!
Good friendly atmosphere regardless of your beliefs. Just nice friendly people serving coffee and cakes if that all you are looking for.
The main foyer is open plan with hot drink and other treats.
The larger hall area is a grand space which is perfect for receptions and other events when space is required.
there are many different aspects to Kings.
The most obvious is Kings coffee - a warm, welcoming coffee shop/cafe at the front of the building. It has a variety of great coffees and teas, and also has soups, sandwiches and hot meals for sale - all very reasonably priced.
There are sports activities attached to the centre in the evening.
Kings Care runs from the centre, providing homeless and disadvantaged people with clothes, food and other support.
There are many functions rooms and boardrooms to hire, and a catering service to provide for any delegates.
Toddlers groups run from the centre on Thurs, Weds and Thurs - Tuesday hosts art and music, alternate weeks, and a general group runs at other times. It is only £1.50 and includes a drink for adult and child and a snack for the child 9which can be fuit, cheeses, biscuits or breadsticks/toast).
A great place, exceptionally well run, offering something for everyone in the community.
