The Woodpecker Cookhouse provided food for those staying at the Premier Inn next door. Let's start with breakfast. If, like me and my family, you choose the full English the choice is superb and cooked fresh and not standing in containers on the counter.
Then lunch. Again a good selection of good quality " pub grub". A great selection of dishes and well cooked and presented. We had a Sunday roast. The meat, beef for three of us and gammon for the fourth, was beautifully cooked and generous. There was a great vegetable selection. Last but not least evening meals. A great choice and well presented , cooked well and filling. My family and I would recommend. Even if you are passing travellers it is a must.
Quite busy when we visited, Christmas lunch very nice but only came with 1 sprout. Some items on menu not available but food and service overall very good.
Caramel Apple Betty dessert is always a favourite with one of our group
Update
We had Christmas Dinner at the Cookhouse, the meal was excellent, Debbie and her team were wonderful and worked really hard to make the meal special. I was in a party of 7, starters were pate, prawn cocktail and beef in Yorkshire pudding all were lovely. Main course we all had turkey, well portioned and very tasty, Christmas pudding for dessert went down well for those that could manage a pudding. We will certainly consider booking for next Christmas day, really good value at £42.99
Visited here unannounced to eat dinner to celebrate our Granddaughters birthday.
The staff were superb, a brilliant menu and all of our food was served to the highest standards.
Far in excess of what our bill said. We will be back for sure
