The food is top notch but it would be better if the meals such as currys and beef chilli garlic or anything with a sauce should be put into a container with a lid as it doesn't matter how careful you are the box gets covered and it makes for a messy eat .

stopped by for a quick breakfast, and was not disappointed at all! quaint and homely restaurant, very reasonably priced. only grouse is that the waitress didn't hang around much in the dining area so it was a little difficult to get her attention when we wanted to call for the bill.
My wife and i visited Newton Stewart for 5 days.Stayed at Machermore castle. Tried a few places but The Scent o Galloway has the best food,the best service and the fairest prices in the whole of Scotland.
Steak pie is amazing. All day breakfast is out of this world. Desserts are delicious. Anyone visiting Newton Stewart should try this lovely restaurant.
I will certainly be back next time we are in the area
