Well, well, well, I had a great evening on Tuesday, 24 July 2018. Seven reasons to visit Gem42, the new look Gemelli's on Bridge Street:
(1) New look decor is modern, brighter and makes the restaurant look more spacious.
(2) Smaller, richer menu selection but will change monthly.
(3) Six-course meal was truly fabulous, tasty, full of flavours and lots of uniqueness. Also available is an a la carte menu and for vegetarians a six-course meal option.
(4) Passion, enjoyment and satisfaction of cooking comes oozing through. Presentation of each course is different, and overall, even better than before!
(5) Wine selection was excellent and lots to choose from.
(6) Service was tremendous shown through lots of patience, passion and excitement explaining each dish and answering extra questions.
(7) It may be slightly more expensive than other local eateries but I say, "you pay for quality and it is worth it".
I have eaten in Gemelli's and "many" restaurants in/around Newport. This was the best fine dining meal I have had to date in South Wales.
To top the evening, I had fab company with two lovely ladies from work =8-)

The best fine dining experience i’ve ever had.
The courses were well thought out and you could almost taste the passion the chef had cooked the courses with, the presentation was outstanding and the service was second to none. I can’t recommend it enough, I will be returning and hoping I can get a table because I believe Gem42 will be such a sought after place to dine in the very near future it will be difficult! I would award 10 stars if could. Well done to the brothers and team for bringing a bit of class and sparkle to Newport.
We had waited for a while to get our booking, my goodness was it worth the wait.
Chef Sergio is an incredible chef and his team are producing culinary works of art, well done
Overall an amazing experience! Had the Chef Signature tasting menu with wine pairing, everything was faultless, the food was just so good, the pairings perfectly complemented and the service was impeccable.
The price is definitely reasonable. I'd definitely go back!
