If you are looking to eat authentic tasty Italian food then this is the perfect place. Marenghi's restaurant is one of those hidden gems in newport and once you've discovered it and tasted the food you will make sure you return. Me and my family booked a buffet for 12 of us on a Saturday night. They are only a small restaurant accommodating for about 40 people and usually don't stay open in the evenings unless you book otherwise, so we had the whole place to ourselves ! It was like we had our own private kitchen and mario and his staff made us feel very welcome and comfortable! I come from an Italian family and we were all brought up eating authentic Italian food making it always difficult to seek out Italian restaurants that we actually rate highly for its authenticity. Nothing beats Italian home cooking! But Merenghis Italian coffee shop was the first time we've all been super impressed. It was just like eating in a little family run restaurant in Italy. He served dishes that you don't even usually see in other Italian restaurants. Not fancy like you usually expect from Italian restaurants in this country but authentic, super tasty and true to the southern style of Italian cooking! You must try this place if you have a passion for Italian food.

This little coffee shop is a local gem ! My partner and I had a evening meal in Marenghi’s last night, the owner usually closes at 5 but he very kindly stayed open for us ! Mario was fantastic - I couldn’t decide what to have off the menu so he did me half of two dishes! What a lovely guy ! The food !! - wow , absolutely fantastic ! If you’re looking for some authentic Italian- this is the place to be ! If I could give this review 10 stars - I would ! Cannot wait to go back �

We had a family meal booked there today for my sons 18th Birthday. We opted for the birthday buffet menu which was absolutely amazing. Loads of individual Italian dishes which you can help yourself to. So much choice and as soon as plates and dishes were emptied they were refilled. Mario and his two sons were fantastic. Amazing service, amazing food and amazing value. Would highly recommend anyone to go there. Fantastic. Thank you so much Wendy Willis & family
