Whilst reading through some blogs I stumbled across The Bridge Tavern. Its menu seemed very similar to The Broad Chare... but a few quid cheaper and featuring a micro brewery. On this occasion The Bridge Tavern won and it became our choice of pre-match grub. I've since read that the chef from Broad Chare has migrated to The Bridge Tavern so this could explain the similar offerings.
Microbrewery + craft beer pub in Central Newcastle.
It’s a lovely sight that awaits us as we enter The Bridge Tavern (under the Tyne Bridge) for a Sunday roast today: a long bar of craft beers (good variety of pale ales, Christmas beers, stouts and weiss), fermenting beers at the back, a spacious room of solid wooden tables, and a friendly greeting from the bar staff. What more could you ask for? Good food? Tick.
We try a few beers before eyeing up the food menu and Sunday roast menu. C and I home in on beer battered haddock, triple cooked chips and mushy peas with homemade tartare sauce @ £9.95, while K orders a pulled pork bun with kimchee slaw and pickles and triple cooked fries @ £9.95. It’s all mighty fine...
First visit in a few years and delighted it's still a great pub. Good selection of cask & craft beer. Excellent pub grub and friendly staff.
Always a great selection of beer.
One slice of beef is just not enough and the roast potatoes could have been crispier. Mash has no place on a roast! Give me more veg and meat. Yorkshire is 1st class! Not bad but not great, the Chare is better!
Quirky, good service, however the drinks were quite pricey.
2 large white wines £23.
It was quite empty when we were in but I can imagine the atmosphere would be good if busier.
First time in the Bridge tavern
Really enjoyed it that I went back again a few nights later
Friendly staff who knew their products
Plenty of beers and choices for all tastes
Relaxed ambience and comfortable seating along with benches and stools.
It has an upstairs and outdoor balcony with heating
Situated directly under the Tyne bridge. Outwardly doesn’t look much but really nice and welcoming inside
Apparently a haunt of Johnny Depp and Sam Fender…… They mustn’t have heard I was in town 😂
We went there on a Monday evening. They serve food until 7 pm on Monday and Tuesday, and we got there just in time to order our dinner. Food and beer were delicious and the place is very cool and well decorated.
The place is in a good location and has a nice ambiance. Got their daily special of Beef ciabatta which wasn't tasty at all and meat was quite difficult to chew. They have great beers though.
Absolutely stunning part of the city. Amazing views anywhere you look. Lovely pub with fast friendly service and a nice courtyard right under the bridge. High recommend.
Excellent food and very friendly staff make it a great place to visit. Wasn’t busy at lunchtime so plenty of room for us to sit. Highly recommended.
Great bar to visit, lovely food, Sunday lunch one of the best in town, great range of beers, wines and spirits reasonably priced, great location near the quayside, lovely beer roof garden in the summer, well recommended
Called here yesterday for a few beers. The building was nice, they have a nice big open top roof you can sit on and enjoy the weather.
The beers I had were good, didn't eat but the food looked nice
