Lovely little family-run café on the Newbiggin sea front, it's a bit of a hidden gem, but well worth a look if you fancy a bite to eat, or something to drink. An advocate for local produce, they sell local goods, and even have a highly commended Bistro night that I'm yet to experience. Perfect opportunity for a break, to invest back into the community, and they're dog friendly too.
Really excellent cafe, right on the beach. We had a range of stotties: egg mayo; aubergine, avacado and red onion; Craster kipper; and a ham and pease pudding. Everyone enjoyed their sandwich and said they would have them again. They do an excellent GF roll too. We also had a chocolate brownie, rocky road, chocolate tiffin and caramel shortbread - all of which were delicious. The service was friendly and the cafe was clean and tidy and busy with lots of customers - always a good sign. We will definitely be back.
Fabulous afternoon tea! Everything was home made, not too much (but enough!) sweet stuff. More than enough to eat, and plenty of variety. We were asked in advance what sandwich fillings we would like and the fillings were unusual and tasty. The venue is beautiful, we were seated upstairs looking out over the sea. The bistro is situated in a beautiful Georgian stone house, right next to the sea, the view is stunning even on a winter afternoon. Suzanne and the staff couldn't be more welcoming and helpful, they made us feel so at home. I think you probably need to book in advance for afternoon tea, it's very much worth it. It wasn't expensive, and it's genuinely the nicest tea I have ever had. I only discovered the Eatery this year, absolutely love it.
