The Golden Anchor Fish Bar serve up the most mouthwatering and delicious Fish and Chips. It is a local gem that is frequently buzzing with customers queuing up to get a takeaway.
The atmosphere is good and the staff are warm and inviting. The only downside is that you tend to wait a while for the food (even if you call to order in advance), but I can overlook this seeing as the food is just so scrumptious! If you fancy eating in, there are a couple of tables and chairs inside for you to perch on.
The walls of The Golden Anchor are covered in a variety of awards and certificates, and that's because they truly deliver when it comes to rustling up good Fish and Chips. If you're in the area, this place is a MUST.
I Previously ony left a 5 star review... What i didn't mention was the fresh lovely food . Family run business that must be supported in a world full of corporate eateries. This place is a source of proper soul food. Go on, put a smile on your face and enjoy.
Had a craving for fish and chips, I wasn't disappointed. Still crispy by the time I got home. I got the normal sized cod which was huge (see photo). Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
