What a gem of a cafe, with beautiful views of the south downs, mostly catering for cyclists, mtb, Gravel, Road, and you'd definitely be welcome on a penny farthing! It's on the South Downs way, so there are lots of bike packers and walkers, as well as locals. It has a great vibe to it, reminded me of a ski resort mountain cafe, its special because everyone there is a walker / cyclist so you feel in good company. The owners are obviously keen cyclists and are very welcoming. The menu items are playfully renamed after famous cyclists, eg, the Chris hoy toasties, etc. There are several picnic tables outside, a bike tool station , a pump, lots of bike racks, and indoors, which is even cosier with leather couches and cafe tables. The toilets are proper toilets and very clean. The range of food is impressive, and they also sell their own brand merchandise, t shirts, cycle caps, and even coffee beans to take home, as well as supporting other local producers, with local beers and wines that you can take away. You are also likely to bump into someone you know from the cycling world as I did, so make this rest stop part of your next ride. You won't regret it!

Hold onto your handlebars, because our cycling adventure on the South Downs took an epic turn when we stumbled upon the newest Cadence clubhouse at Flint Barn! Talk about kicking off a ride in style, with the promise of awesome coffee, snacks, and even a breakfast spread that could rival a five-star brunch if you were up for it. And trust me, we were definitely up for it! With a couple of coffees that tasted like liquid motivation and some healthy sourdough toast to fuel our morning ride, we were ready to hit the pedals. And guess who made this delicious start possible? None other than the fabulous Antonia, who combined professionalism with a welcoming warmth that had us grinning from ear to ear. Antonia didn't stop at just serving us, though. She spilled the beans on the route we were about to conquer and gave us insider intel about the sunflower field at Waltham Down. Let me tell you, those sunflowers were like something out of a fairy tale – ecstatically beautiful and practically waving us forward! As we kicked off, the atmosphere around the Cadence clubhouse was buzzing with the camaraderie of South Downs cyclists, walkers, and runners. Knowing we were all in it together made the challenge of conquering Hill Barn feel like a piece of cake (or pastry, rather). Midway through, we treated ourselves to a pit stop at the Cadence clubhouse in Upwaltham. Sarah, the coffee conjurer, brewed up some liquid gold, and her recommendations for cake and pastries were next-level genius. The cake? Out-of-this-world yummy. The pastry? A flaky, delicious dream. Although we had our own packed lunch, the spread on offer at both Cadence clubhouses looked so tempting, we were practically drooling. Nutritious and mouth-watering, it's a wonder we didn't cave in to those culinary delights. Summing it all up? Cadence served up the triple threat: fantastic coffee, delectable food, and a crew of awesome people that made the experience truly unforgettable. If you're hunting for a cycling adventure with all the trimmings, Cadence on the South Downs is your ultimate pit stop. Big thanks to Antonia, Sarah, and the whole Cadence crew for making our ride one for the books. Pedal on, adventurers!

Cadence Cycle Club Cafe was fantastic!! A great little stop 1/3rd into the SDW from Winchester, right on the trackside, you can’t miss it, and don’t need to detour. The lady serving was so welcoming and helpful, lots of food options and different toasties which were top notch, lovely coffee and lots of snacks too. Thank you for refuelling us on SDW in a day adventure! Highly recommend the CCC.
