A not-so-hidden gem. Eaten there a few times and the food and service has always been first class (it's a restored former railway station building after all!).
Good vibes as soon as you walk in and everyone's incredibly friendly - the place has a real community feel.
Menu is packed with comfort food goodies. Certainly vouch for the Station Eggs with Pulled Pork. Perfectly cooked poached eggs on a toasted muffin. The pulled pork was succulent, sweet and tasty, but it was the creamy Hollandaise sauce that 'pulled' it all together. Divine.
Don't forget to try out the delicious cakes too.
Lovely cafe with friendly staff and very spacious indoors and outdoors. Good food. We were a table of 6 on a Sunday when the menu is Sunday roast only. We all enjoyed the roasts (there is a choice of meats and veggie). The plate was great - however, the yorkshire pud was overcooked, a bit less time in the oven would have been great. We enjoyed the atmosphere, however we wished there had not been music in the background (or a tad less loud anyway) as it was difficult to hear each other from one end of the table to the other tables are big and spacious - definitely a good thing). Still, we really enjoyed the experience and will be back, especially to try the other menu (s). There is a great outdoor space also - we might try that next time.
I've been here a few times this week for breakfast as I'm staying in the area temporarily. Food has been great every time. I started with the station eggs with pulled pork, had a manc muffin another day and a bacon butty the day after. There is a big window to sit by and you can get lots of light. Finally, they have a nice selection of cakes to choose from. I had a Nutella Cruffin and it was pretty amazing. Will visit again soon.
