Very nice experience at Pho No.1, my Vietnamese friend recommended this place to me and said it’s authentic.
A bit far from the uni but definitely worth coming, it’s one of the best Vietnamese food I had in the UK!
The staffs and the owner were kind and welcoming, definitely gonna go again👍🏼👍🏼
Even though I've been twice to Pho No. 1, I've only tried the grilled monkfish. It was that good, so I got it again :)
Technically it is fried (perhaps in addition to grilled?), but quite delicious in any case. I did get it with rice accidentally the first time (I asked for noodles they mixed up), but it turns out it's better with rice.
Apart from the mistake, the takeaway service was slow, I guess it will also depend on the day.
I will not penalise for the service, assuming it will be better next time.
- banh cuon £7.90
- banh xeo £8.50
- bun ga hue £9
the banh cuon was silky and smooth although a bit thicker than i like but overall still delicious! it paired beautifully with their addictive nuoc cham which also came with their banh xeo. it was very crispy but messy to eat bc the fillings were added separately rather than cooked into the banh xeo.
the portion of the bun ga hue was generous but sadly it wasnt as flavourful as others i’ve had and i felt like the chicken was cooked separately then just added at the end. the service was so nice and they really made us feel welcome so id def come back and hopefully i can try the chè bc they ran out during my visit!
