Visited as a group of 10. At a higher price point it is a good addition to the dining scene of Corn Exchange. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. All food was great apart from the desserts - where they seem to try too hard to reinvent the wheel and it did not pay off. Decent drinks selection and very pretty fit out. I did think its a tad bit overpriced when compared to Hawksmoor.
Beautiful Steak Restaurant and Excellent Gin Collection. Food cooked perfectly and extremely tasty. Highly recommended, we didn't have the set menu as didn't feel there was much choice a few more options would be useful.
We have been here a few times now in the last month or so and have been impressed each time, hence returning.
The beef is star but every other dish we have tried wowed us. So far we have tried the Fillet and Rib-eye, the accompanying sauces are beautiful I would recommend the chimichurri and peppercorn. The breaded Butter Curry Chicken is incredible with some of the curry actually inside the chicken Kiev style, so is the Thai Steak which is served on a bed of noodles.
Sunday lunch is also incredible and probably the best I’ve had, beef Sunday dinners can a lot of the time come overdone but at Alston Bar and Beef it is beautifully pink with the perfect amount of veg to go with.
The staff have always been so friendly and personable also, in particular Jamie when he served us a week or two ago.
The Monday BYO wine deal or the Tuesday steak deals make it very good value when dining these days.
The only suggestion I have is to use a slightly more tender steak for the Thai steak dish as it was a little chewy.
Can’t wait to come back again soon,
Thank you 🙏🏽
