This pub is so aptly named. Always a friendly greeting in a lovely warm building. We have been several times for Sunday lunch which is a carvery. It's very well priced but most important, it's excellent. Wonderfully cooked meat, particularly the locally sourced beef, plenty choice of vegetables and if you've room left, good choice of sweets. You can get regular or large lunches. If you can get a seat upstairs it's no extra but it certainly makes you feel special. A real friendly village pub. Well worth a visit.
Just back from a couple of days here and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Tried to book into a nearby inn but it was fully booked and we were glad it was.
Lovely room, lovely good and friendly staff. My partner thought he was in heaven ....red wine, pool table and juke box . We love our history so ideal spot for sightseeing....Vindolanda, Hadrians Wall, Alnwick Castle, Roman forts etc during the day and good crack with the locals in the evening. Thanks to Cameron and Aidan for pool contest. Sorry about the Scots winning. LOL. Definitely be going back.
Lovelly place been a few times foods nice and staff are great. Highly recommend a visit.
