Had Sunday roast here with friends. It’s a very lively place buzzing full of people.
Accidentally cancelled a space the night before, however staff were very accommodating and gave us a table large enough to seat an extra person. We sat in front of the open kitchen and watched as food came and go but ours took quite a while to come. We had ordered the ‘All In’ with all the trimmings to share, was plenty to go round. Unfortunately it left me no space for dessert.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive and now knows what IPA is and what it stands for 😂.
Update: came back for dinner ‘All In’. We found the beef a bit chewy and vegetables (apart from the greens) rather burnt. Bordeaux wine was good quality, smooth and full bodied. Yorkies we’re very light and crispy. Our waiter was super friendly, helpful and bagged up left overs for me to take home.
Cozy place with an interesting all in formula at 25 pounds per person. Pretty decent deal for value of money. The little bite starters were so good, and the beef dripping chips were exceptionally good! I recommend.
Great place! Definitely a must go if you love meat and you are looking for a nice place! Everything was great and OMG the dessert! You must try the grandma style cheesecake (we loved it so much I don’t even have pictures). Only downside, hence my 4 stars, is the additional service fee at the end (which is quite high 12%).
This Sunday roast did not disappoint. For me this was a can't-miss meal during our a 6 night stay in London, and I would absolutely return to Blacklock to have it again.
We got the all-in, perfect portions of meat for two people and lots of delicious veg. The potatoes and carrots were downright perfect. All three meats - beef, pork, and lamb - perfectly tender, juicy, and just delicious. The Yorkshire puddings were FANTASTIC. And the gravy... I could have drank that gravy. Paired well with a pint of Blacklock lager.
The cheesecake pudding was a great follow-up to the meal, served in a "say when" style so they just bring the entire casserole dish to your table and scoop it into a bowl until you've seen enough. Hard not to fall in love with that!
Came here for Sunday roast as have heard a lot of good things about this place. We had the beef and lamb roast - they were both great. The carrots had a lovely sweetness to them, the cabbage was nicely charred. Yorkshire puddings were massive and well made, the meat was mostly very tender. Only issue we had was some of the roast potatoes were extremely dense/potentially over roasted (one was so hard we couldn't actually cut into it). The gravy was also a little too thin for my taste (I keep having this issue with places in London; it's usually better up north!) but was flavoursome and went great with the food. Cauliflower cheese rich and delicious. The starter of creamy mushrooms was also a nice surprise; perfect portion size and very tasty. Service was fine, it was very full so was tricky to get someone's attention. On the whole would recommend!
