I recently visited Furness Grill to try their much-talked-about paella, and while I have to say it was good, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The seafood in the paella was definitely fresh, and I particularly enjoyed the delicious calamari.
However, overall, I would say it was good, but not outstanding.
One thing to be aware of is that there is always a very long queue at this popular shop, as it's the only place in the area that sells paella. So if you do decide to visit, be prepared to wait in line for a while!
Worth the queue during the busy times (it does move fast). Bomba Paella is the dish to order; freshly made, authentic taste and great value (recommended by Spanish friends living in London for a taste that resembles like home). We would also recommend trying the salt and pepper squid (calamari).
Tips:
-they say cash only, though they do take card.
-however, paying by cash you get more quantity wise and makes the process faster (their card machine is not great with signal)
-ask for ‘takeaway’ and it will come in a container rather than a plate (makes it easier to walk around afterwards and find a place to eat).
-time of writing and procured (early Dec 2022), the paella was £10 and calamari was £10.
Paella was so tasty!! Right balance of spices. The flavour was really good that I wish I can go back to London someday to have it again! Not sure why the google review is poor. It is located in the busy borough market so you have to find a different spot to eat, no place to sit down. It was worth it for the taste!
