Firstly, the food here is delicious. A bold statement; the food we were given was presented in a lovely manner - it was as if you were in the fanciest restaurant in the city! - friendly staff, and a calm atmosphere provided with some casual music. Highly recommend.
Sweetcorn fritter is indeed more exciting than avo toast. Not for people with weak stomach and palettes, but definitely a wonderful energetic morning starter. The corn fritter was not as oily as I thought and turned out to be more like pancakes and soy sausages, beautifully spiced. The poached egg is perfect. The chili can be a little too salty but the fresh avocado cools it down.
Masenga hill pour over. The first impressing is a fresh sweetness, which transits into flavors of warm juice, and the aftertaste comes with a note of fruit wine.
I didn’t intend to pop in on a bank holiday, but I’m glad that the place is still friendly to solitary diners when the space is filling up. (Well I spend more than normal people too.)
Pastries also look lovely.
Watchouse is a great place to enjoy a modern coffee shop experience.
This particular store is often very busy and I can see the staff try their best to keep the flow going the best they can. Like many other reviews I think it would be beneficial if there was more focus in the table service side of the shop as the wait times can be long at times.
However, the wait is worth it and the baristas are great at their craft. I look forward to visiting again soon - especially if Stefano is making coffee! Thank you for this gorgeous Swan! 🦢
