I have been going to this place for years. It is open all hours so no matter what time you leave a bar or pub locally, your hunger pains can be sorted quite quickly here. Having not been here for a while, it was nice to pop in after a reunion drinks nearby. Everything was as it was. Quick staff, quick good food and an added bonus of it being on tastecard 2 for 1. A bargain to be had there. As well as the normal noodles, aromatic duck and sweet/sour dishes, i discovered they have dim sum which i was really craving. We had a lot of different dishes with beef, chicken etc. On the dim sum basket i was impressed, but i would not go for the pork and prawn dumplings again. They tasted tough and pretty much like they had been hanging around for a while. The fatty gristle bits were not cool either. Such a shame really as everything else was perfect as i remembered it being. Will still go again, will just remember to stick to what i know.
Oh man, the happiness... I visit London once a year and always eat here! We were a table of five, and were placed around a small round table, tucked in a little enclave in the wall in the downstairs section. At first impression, I couldn't believe where we were being seated. But it turned out quite well since it was like being in a private room. We ordered a banquet of dishes: roast duck, honey roasted pork, crispy pork belly, spicy noodle something, garlic veggies and even more, I can't even remember! And rice. Obvious... All my guests were properly happy and stuffed once we were done! And best of all, they allowed us to sit and continue chatting even though we weren't ordering any more. I'll be back soon!
Decent West End meal. I paid my second visit to the New Mayflower recently with a friend. Whilst I would never describe the food as amazing, it's Chinese of a good standard that's reasonably priced. The restaurant also seems to be very popular with the Chinese community which is normally a good sign. I wouldn't say the service is great, it's quite abrupt and to the point, but you generally get your food quick and the place seems to be clean etc. The decor is very basic and probably dated, but that's not what I'd be coming here for anyway. If you're looking for a Chinese in China Town/The West End to maybe accompany a few beers and a catch up with a friend I'd describe this as the ideal place.
