Lovely pub. Staff are friendly. Nice tables inside and nice beer garden by the canal. Burger shack outside makes lovely vegetarian burger and curly fries.
Lovely roast, good service. Celeriac mash was a nice touch. Yorkshires were decent and the meat was well cooked . Charcuterie board was good, they pickled swede or parsnips I think? Overall good experience
Tldr; lovely location but book in advance during peak time. Food was amazing although not the cheapest.
This is a popular pub along the canal / River Lea and it was evident today with both indoor and outdoor tables being fully booked. We were lucky enough to snatch a table just as a couple was leaving
We had the watercress soup, Sunday roast, along with the bangers and mash. All 3 dishes were packed with flavor and good ingredients. It really was delicious, in fact we found the food to be a little too intense by the time we finished everything. Lots of salt and umami.
The only down side aside apart from how busy it was, is the price of the food being slightly more on the expensive end for a pub. The Sunday roast ran us 20 quid and the soup 9. Definitely worth it but in my opinion but there may be better value if you’re on a tighter budget
