After a day birding in Birmingham I was not looking forward to the drive home down the M5 in rush hour and after a painful two hours I was starved and happened to stop at Strensham Services where I discovered this absolute gem of a fast food restaurant. It was as quick as you would expect from fast food restaurants but it was actual food, actual fresh proper hot food. All the ingredients were recognisable, the halloumi had the perfect grilled cheese squeak, the lettuce was green and crunchy and damn that homemade sauce was frigging gorgeous. I even enjoyed the tomatoes! Oh and the fries, proper potato lattice fries where you could taste the actual potato rather than the tons of salt added after cooking. They were good enough to eat without any extra sauce.
My only question now is when does Cardiff get one?
Had a very pleasant surprise when we found the Leon restaurant in the Trafford Centre yesterday. We were looking for somewhere to eat to avoid the rush hour traffic on the way home after a long day. This can be a bit depressing at times as my partner is a gluten free vegetarian which can make life complicated. However, we spotted Leon and had a look at the menu and were really stunned to see so many options my partner could have. In the end she went for the meatfree meatballs and I had the satay chicken box. The food was excellent with decent portions and the service was friendly and first class. Fast food has never been like this and we'll definitely be back.
So great to find somewhere that everyone can eat, wether you're vegan, dairy intolerant (me) or just want good, healthy food. Great to find this place North of London (Trafford Centre).
