This restaurant serves vibrant and delicious caribbean food, there's a good variety on the menu with the centrepiece being the meat cooked in the smoker for 14 hours.
We ordered slow cook beef short rib and jerk chicken for the main and side dish: rice, plantain and casava fries.
- The chicken was moist, smoked to the bone and full of flavour.
- The short rib was falling of the bone, the sauce that comes with it has a wonderful depth of flavour.
Side dishes portions are reasonable and more importantly, very tasty.
- Casava fries were crunchy, rice and peas was beautifully cooked and the plantains were sweet and a great relief to the heat of the scotch bonnet sauce!!!
- Cocktails aren't very sophisticated but delicious and refreshing.
Customer service was excellent, very attentive staff.
Our waiter (Zsolt) was very welcoming and funny.
The best way to describe their level of customer service is their fantastic attention to detail.
At first, I was served a tough short rib and it wasn't falling of the bone, I didn't make any mention to the waiter when he asked if everything was ok, as the meat was full of flavour, I kind of didn't give much importance. However, the manager noticed that I was struggling to cut the meat, she immediately offered to replace it with another one, this time it was falling off the bone and succulent and we were offered an extra side dish too.
The docor's attempt to transport you to the Caribbean is quiet effective and the sun on the terrace did its part to make this experience really enjoyable.
The price is good value for what you get.
My last visit would've attracted 5 stars. This visit was more like 3 but I'm confident that that was a blip. Perhaps they've not quite worked out how to keep the smoked beef moist and juicy after its reached the perfect temperature.
My recommendation would be to stick with the classics for now. Steer clear of the smoked food and you'll have a great experience. I wouldn't normally pay for plantain but theirs is worth it.
I'll be going back, hopefully for another 5 star experience.
Service great from Francis. Slow cooked smoke chicken a little pink. But for the most part food was good.
Disappointed not to see more people of Africa Caribbean orgin in the kitchen and in a management role on the floor. Decore of bathrooms was fun and a great look.
