I have always seen this place in passing, but have never been there in person, however, I have ordered delivery from this place - not once but twice. Every time the service, the delivery, the taste has been impeccable. Though the place has Nepali cuisine, which sounds good, we have never ordered it as yet, on both the occasions we have ordered Indian cuisine. Last time we had ordered Chicken Achari, roti, jeera rice and dal tadka, we were told the delivery would take 45 minutes, yet the food was delivered in 30 minutes which was definitely a huge advantage. The food arrived hot and the taste - there was nothing we could find fault with, a very flavorsome chicken, nice rotis and dal tadka but the star was the jeera rice - one of the best jeera rice I have had here in London, but we didn't want to get carried away (as we have been disappointed by other places on repeat orders or visits). Today we decided to give it another try and ordered a Chicken biryani, a lemon rice and dal makhani, the delivery time mentioned was 40 minutes and the food arrived in 30 minutes. The biryani was good (we have had better though), the lemon rice was also tasty but the dal makhani is not to be missed, lovely flavors, mild and very creamy... absolutely comforting. We have enjoyed the food so much that it has tempted us to go and visit it next time instead of ordering in.... maybe we will give the Nepali cuisine a try if we do visit... will keep you all posted... :)
Certainly the best Nepalese restaurant that I have been to in the UK. We were greeted by friendly attentive staff who immediately understood our coeliac friends dietary requirements and who simply told us to order at will, and they would explain if the dish was coeliac friendly or not, or how they might modify it. As it turned out apart from the obvious things like bread, pretty much everything else was coeliac friendly. We orders our drinks as they took our order for starters, and while we waited, twelve popadoms arrived; somewhat of a surprise for six of us, but funnily enough they were all eaten. For mains we ordered: Chicken Dhansak, Gurkhas Special Biryani, Kukhura Bhutuwa, Dal Makhani, Sag Aloo, Brinjal Bhaji and a couple of plain Nans and a few Plain Rice. The food was exquisite, with each and every dish having a very distinctive and clean, fresh taste, quite unusual in many English Indian restaurants. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and all commented on how exceptionally tasty it all was. I think the Gurkha's Inn will become a firm favourite over the coming months. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant as one of the finest "Indians" I have ever been to. Our bill excluding drinks worked out at just £10.00. Per person.
