Hong Kong-style pork buns make for a perfectly holdable snack whilst navigating through the perilous crowds of the city. My first evening in London had much of this, though just one pork bun. The Kowloon bakery has a lot of offerings in the window and we went for these ones which my friends rate. Freshly baked with an enticing shiny glaze, these yum buns have a decent chunk of proper pork inside. The bread is mostly an enjoyable sponginess, with the savoury meat and gravy filling too. So quite happy and it was cheap to boot. There’s a dizzying array of other bakery options and it’s all a little crazy with customers shoulder-to-shoulder during peak hours.

Amaaazing coconut buns! Oh my. The "coconut custard" (that's what they call it at Kowloon, but it's a far cry from French custard) is absolutely superb. The best I've had! The pasty yet crumbly texture is jam-packed into the glistening pastry, glowing out from within like a golden yolk. It's darker yellow than most coconut bun fillings, and the tastiest by far.
My boyfriend gave their egg tarts the Hong Konger approval!
The ambiance is a tad chaotic... It's a bit unclear where one line (would one even call it a line?) begins and another ends . . . and there is a bit of shouting and confusion in the ordering process, but I couldn't care less when the end result is this tasty!
The front window is filled with row upon row of beautiful treats, so it's hard to miss!

I got two coconut custard buns and a Roast pork Bao, these were lovely! I would defiantly buy from here again. Sadly the lady who served me was rude though.
