Espresso Martini. We ate at Southwark Rooms last Tuesday and from the moment we arrived the service was attentive but discreet and the restaurant filled quickly but we still felt well taken care of. The food was delicious, everything my husband and I ate was sublime. I can't recommend it highly enough and we are mad foodies! (tip for the ladies: espresso martini one not to be missed with/instead/after dessert!)
I came in here yesterday with the other half and my parents, we ate using two tastecards which gave us 50% off food, which meant the 4 of us had dinner and a drink for just over a tenner a head, not bad for the location.
The decor is simple yet stylish, and the food is on the higher end of pub-grub. Both the bf and I had a lovely wild boar burger and fries which was cooked just pink and pretty tastey, my Dad had freshly battered Haddock and chips and my Mum tucked into some nice looking Belly Pork.
It was too cold for us to sit outside but there were several large sofas outside giving the place a bit of a continental feel, but being on Southwark St doesn't make for the best view in town.
Whislt I wouldn't make a special effort to come here, I'd certainly not hesitate to pop back if I was looking for somewhere to eat and was in the area, especially with the discount the tastecard can offer!
Have not been here to eat, but I lived here as a kid, and I just wonder if the cellar has remained the same, or if anyone has seen anything ghost like, lots of customers had seen a hooded monk or had felt someone behind or passing them. Do they still have the cellars, and can anyone confirm if they were used as prison cells. ?
