Temples Food is a a kind of hybrid British style cafe and a less stylish version of Pret or Eat. Basically there's a mixture of pre-prepared food like sandwiches, pastas and salads etc, and food cooked to order. Overall there is a nice selection of food, most of which are and that much different from the big chains, but well priced in comparison.
If you work in the area it's a convenient place to pick up some lunch.

Note, this refers to the Temples located in Hounsditch
The level of patronage this premises receives is testament to the value they offer. Whilst the food can not be descibed as gourmet, it is reasonably wholesome fare covering most dietary requirements.
The decor is reminiscent of a cold war canteen which had a spruce up when Perestroyka arrived. Also most of the staff seem to be Polish, which only furthers the neo soviet atmosphere.
Where Temples really excels is in their utterly mind blowing efficiency. Even their multi level roast dinner sandwiches are served in less than 2-3 mins. From entry to exit the average lunchtime visit is concluded in no more than 5 minutes, not withstanding the eat in option which extends to a corner of plain seating inside, or even the strip of Orwellian metal tables on the pavement outside.
Make no mistake, you will definitely not be treated to serenading waiters armed with platters of Lobster Bisque and Baked Alaska. However, you can be guaranteed a decent salad, tub of pasta, curry, sandwich etc all without breaking the bank and still retain most of your lunch hour.
Na zdrowie!
No frills standard city lunchtime takeaway. Pretty good quality and seems to be freshly made. Far far better value than going to any of the big chains surrounding it.
