Hang on, why start reviews with Salwa, then?
OK, for one, where I lived was walking distance. Does wonders when home delivery is not the norm to have a decent take-away nearby.
Next. made friends with the owners and with a wee bit of coordination, got the most essential component right - home made phulkaas and parathas, made of proper atta and not maida.
Third, the prices were always reasonable, and the food fresh. Certainly, didn't taste like anything from "home" in India, but also wasn't as drastic as the "baltee" food which has one curry sauce.
So, to go back into memory lane and dredge up restaurants that I have liked in London, made sense to start with this one if all you want is basic decent Indian (ok, Pakistani) food.
Couple of points though
1) This is close to Edgware Road Station, not Marble Arch
2) Take the food and reheat at home in an oven or frying pan - they reheat in a microwave which tends to do not wonders to the food.
3) You should ask for discounts and/or freebies thrown in, works.
I'm going to go back into old records for photos and put them up soon.
Wonderful family-run restaurant where you can grab a wide array of authentic dishes to go or sit down for a peaceful and delicious meal. Excellent food with quick service and very kind staff. A bit small if you’ve got a big group but an excellent place for two or three people to sit down in a beautiful setting for a great lunch or dinner.
Found this place as the best desi restaurant on Edgware road specifically for the karhai , paya, nehari and desi chai.
