While I was in London, it was almost “weird” not to offer free wi-fi to visitors and guests to cafés- rather in Melbourne it is the norm. I visited Fix 126, when I needed to get some fresh air. I was genuinely surprised that they offered free wi-fi (there was a one hour limit), laptop locks, and assuming laptop theft is frequent when the windows are open, prohibits visitors from using laptops during those warmer months near windows. The space was also large enough so you didn’t feel like you were in somebody’s personal space as you huddle and study in Fix 126.
I got a latte while I was at Fix 126, with their house fix blend. While this changes from time to time, the essence of the fix blend was smooth, sweet with a slight citrus finish. They also have rotating guest blends and filter coffee options.
If you are ever in Shoreditch and need to smash out some work, and hesitate on where to go based on needing to use the restroom, halfway through your work. Fix 126 will fix you up with a laptop lock, so it’s all too easy to want to work away from home.
Good place for Aussie coffee lovers :)
I did some work at FWD:Coffee on Sunday morning, and there was no wifi the entire time. I didn’t know before I purchased my drink, so I did sit and study for a bit. My cappuccino was good, but I’m going to order a darker coffee next time. The ambiance and natural lighting in the cafe is stellar. The baristas are friendly and warm, and I loved people watching from the window!
