🚇 Gloucester Road 🍺 £6.45 Estrella ❤️ An enjoyable Greene King boozer. . The Stanhope Arms is located at the end of a Victorian terrace in plush South Kensington. Gloucester Road Tube station with its beautifully oxblood tiled exterior is just across the road. . This pub was built in 1869 and is named after local landowners The Stanhopes (The Earls of Harrington). There are streets, mews and gardens close by which all bear their name. . This is a traditionally decorated pub that is set out in an “L” shape. There is plenty of seating available which consists of low level tables and chairs, compacted together poser tables, plus one comfy banquette on the right hand side of the bar. This Greene King pub is bright and airy and has some Greene King uniformity around the walls. The star of the show is the stunning ornate back bar with its carved top and etched glass. . The beer selection was good, there were lots of familiar brands and one cask ale on at the time. I had a pint of Estrella, my pint was great and a little over average price. There is a traditional pub grub menu, Fish & Chips costs £15.29. . I arrived around 2pm on a Sunday afternoon and the pub was busy with a mix of older locals, day trippers and tourists from across the pond. There was a nice atmosphere here, even though it was busy everything was calm and relaxed. . There are lots of @greeneking_official pubs in and around Kensington, this is definitely my favourite. I really enjoyed the vibe here and the back bar is a work of art.
