The Kings Arms has recently undergone refurbishment and has gone from an average sports bar to a more upmarket gastropub. Gone are the pool tables and games machines, replaced by lots more seating with plush couches and comfy stools. There are still screens for sport in the bar area and outside but it definitely doesn't feel like a "football pub" anymore.
There's a small, semi-enclosed oudoor area that may not get flooded with sun but is still lovely in the warmer months.
Along with the interior, the seasonal menu has also had an overhaul. The pizzas and burgers are really good (and huge!) and the chunky chips and sweet potato fries are tasty. However, sandwiches and salads have been a little hit and miss for me. They have a few vegetarian options on the menu but I'd recommend going for a pizza in terms of taste and value for money.
With the menu overhaul comes higher prices so although I won't eat here are frequently as I used to, it will be higher quality, more enjoyable food when I do.
This is a nice pub to watch the football match. It is a 3 minute walk from Putney Bridge station. They have nicer decor than a normal pub and have a variety of home made pizzas. I personally feel the pizza was too oily for my liking.
I liked the environment and vibes of the establishment and will be coming back to try the Sunday roast dinners, hopefully it doesn’t disappoint!
Thank you Garry and Alex for an incredible night out. You went out of your way to ensure we could watch the RWC Final after we had been let down by an establishment very close by. The atmosphere, food and service was exceptional. Thanks from a very happy Andy and friends!
