By no means a "foodie" destination, I'm giving Le Petit Cafe on Drury Lane a decent rating for the sheer variety, consistency and convenience of its food.
As it's located near my office, Le Petit Cafe is often my first resort if I don't feel like any of the other chain restaurants in the vicinity (Pret, Itsu, Eat, etc.). It's not the usual type of cafe I'd find myself in, but I love that it's family-owned and that the staff are always friendly and polite.
At first, I was a little apprenhensive about trying it, but the fact that most of my colleagues grab their lunches there (including directors of the company) made want to give it a go - and I'm glad I did, as it's always my back-up lunch spot now!
They serve a different home-made soup every day - nothing fancy, just something hot, warming and healthy, which you can either have with a piece of bread or a sandwich for £5.50 (I think). Perfect for a cold day. Or, if I'm really hungry or (most importantly!) feeling under the weather with a cold, I'll head for their hot food bar, which usually has a selection of delicious stews and pastas - again, nothing special or fancy, but just does the trick when you're craving something hearty.
After hot yoga, I'll swing by to grab a salad from their salad bar and stock up on tuna, sweetcorn, beetroot, and lettuce to keep my energy levels up. Or if I'm feeling a bit faint, I'll get a jacket potato with tuna continental (tuna with red onion, red and green pepper), which is served with a small salad garnish on the side.
A great pit stop if you've got to get lunch to go - I wouldn't recommend sitting in as there are only a couple of tables and it gets really, really crowded at lunchtime.
This one is my ultimate favourite sandwich place. Its on my way to college and has great variety of fillings and breads. However it is suggested you go early because the morning and afternoon brunch often means that you have to eat a toast than a baguette. Either way I am happy to compromise.
Sandwiches on toast run at around 2.90 pounds and baguettes is around 3.20pounds I guess. They also have a salad bar and lunch menu which serves pasta, beef stroganoff, curry, rice etc etc and the beauty of it is that you can help yourself, so you can put in heap loads if you want.
I usually alternate between their coronation chicken, chicken club and chicken sweetcorn. The toasts are buttered(generously i must say) and then filled(again generously) with their fillings. You have everything in front of you and so you know its fresh. They add salad and you can get it grilled if you want. So what you get is a hot sandwich which is a rarity in Prets and EATs.
The staff is extremely helpful and makes it look like a true family run place. They are very courteous and helpful and one of the guys even gave me tips for Istanbul.
I highly suggest it! Go early and eat fast! :)
This place is called cafe de provence now, they do most delicious Mediterranean food, large selection of cake and sandwiches 😋😋😉amazing and great value for money.
